The Copper Queens will face Denmark in an international friendly in December as the Zambian side continues preparations for its next competitive assignment.
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has confirmed that the two teams will meet on 5 December 2026 in Esbjerg, Denmark.
FAZ General Secretary Charles Chakatazya said the fixture reflects the growing number of international opportunities available to the Copper Queens.
“We are excited as FAZ that we continue to attract top-level invitations for international friendly matches, which shows great confidence and respect for the Copper Queens across the globe,” Chakatazya said in a statement issued on Friday.
The friendly comes as Zambia prepares for the first round of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games qualifiers against Uganda. The two-legged tie is scheduled to take place between 5 and 13 October.
Chakatazya said the December fixture would also give the Copper Queens continued international competition as they prepare for the Olympic qualification campaign and subsequent assignments.
Denmark, meanwhile, is using the match as part of its preparations for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil.
“The two upcoming camps give us the chance to test ourselves against national teams from other parts of the world before the World Cup in Brazil kicks off,” Denmark coach Jakob Michelsen was quoted as saying by the Danish Football Association.
“We are therefore delighted that, following our trip to Canada in October, we can host Zambia in Esbjerg this December, where we hope to see plenty of red-and-white fans.”
For Zambia, the match will provide an opportunity to face European opposition away from home and assess the squad against a team preparing for a major global tournament.
Chakatazya said the fixture was also part of efforts to maintain activity around the Copper Queens following their recent continental campaign.
“This is part of our plan to regenerate the Copper Queens after the recent slumps at the WAFCON which extinguished our World Cup dream. The Denmark friendly is an opportunity to set our sights on new targets,” he said.
The Copper Queens will therefore have a busy period ahead, with the Uganda Olympic qualifier coming before the December trip to Denmark.
The Esbjerg fixture gives Zambia another international test as the team begins to shift its focus towards the next cycle of competition.
