Zambian economist and technology entrepreneur Kampamba Shula has been selected among the Top 20 participants in the IGNITE Digital Economy Incubator and Accelerator Programme, run under GreenTech4CE and co-funded by the European Union and BongoHive.
Shula is the founder of Nsembe Technologies, a Zambian technology company developing digital systems for organisations operating in environments where connectivity and digital infrastructure remain limited.
Its approach focuses on offline-first and edge-based systems that allow critical operations to continue without constant internet access.
Nsembe’s school management platform, Nsembe SMS, is already deployed across three school locations, serving about 600 pupils.
The company is positioning itself around a broader question facing Africa’s digital economy: how to build technology that reflects local operating conditions rather than simply adapting systems designed elsewhere.
The IGNITE programme is supporting the development of digital economy ventures with potential for wider impact and scale.
